1. 耶穌受難那一天,是誰幫他背十字架的?

2.耶穌在十字架上喝了東西嗎?兵丁給他什麼?

Please see how the authors of the four Gospels— Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, responded to the following 12 questions in regards to the day of Jesus’s crucifixion:


1. Who helped Jesus in carrying the cross on the day of his crucifixion?

Matthew: Simon of Cyrene (27:32).

Mark: Simon of Cyrene (15:21).

Luke: Simon of Cyrene (23:26).

John: Jesus himself (19:17).


2. Did Jesus drink anything while he was on the cross? What did the soldiers give him?

Matthew: They gave him wine and gall mingled. He tasted it but didn't drink it (27:34).

Mark: They gave him wine mixed with myrrh. He did not take the drink (15:23).

Luke: They gave him vinegar. It was not mentioned whether he drank it or not (23:36).

John: They gave him vinegar. He drank it (19:29-30).


3. Did the two thieves crucified alongside Jesus believe in Him?

Matthew: They mocked him (27:44).

Mark: They ridiculed him (15:32).

Luke: One believed in him, the other did not (23:39-41).

John: Not mentioned.


4. Did the women arrive at Jesus’s tomb at sunrise?

Matthew: They arrived as it began to dawn (28:1).

Mark: They arrived very early in the morning (16:2).

Luke: They arrived very early in the morning (24:1).

John: They arrived while it was still dark (20:1).


5. How many people visited Jesus’s tomb? Who were they?

Matthew:  Two. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary (28:1).

Mark: Three. Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome (16:2).

Luke: At least four, Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles (24:10).

John: One. Mary Magdalene (20:1).


6. Was the stone rolled away by the time the women arrived at the tomb?

Matthew: No. The angel rolled away the stone after the women arrived (28:1-2).

Mark: Yes. When they arrived, the stone had already been rolled away (16:4).

Luke: Yes. By the time they arrived, the stone had been rolled away from the tomb (24:2).

John: Yes. The stone had been removed from the entrance (20:1).


7. How many angels were there at Jesus’s tomb? What were they doing?

Matthew: An angel was sitting on a stone (28:2).

Mark:  A young man was sitting on the right side of the tomb (16:5).

Luke: Two men were standing inside the tomb (24:4).

John: The first time Mary went, there was no angel; the second time she went, there were two angels in white, seated where Jesus’s body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot (21:1-12).


8. What was the angel's instruction at the tomb?

Matthew: Go tell Jesus’s disciples that he has risen from the dead and is on his way to Galilee before you (28:7). ( Note: It takes about 27 hours to walk from Jerusalem to Galilee, which is nearly 130 kilometers away.)

Mark: Go and tell Jesus’s disciples and Peter that he is going to Galilee before you (16:7)

Luke: Do not to leave Jerusalem or go to Galilee, but to stay in the city (24:5-7; 49; Acts 1:4).

John: No angelic instructions. During Mary’s second visit to the tomb, Jesus told her about his resurrection (20:13-17).


9. Did Mary (and other tomb visitors) tell the disciples what happened after she (they) left the tomb?

Matthew. Yes. They hurried out of the tomb and ran to tell his disciples (28:8).

Mark: No. They fled the tomb, terrified and trembling, and said nothing because they were afraid.

Luke: Yes. When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the 11 disciples and to all the others (24:9)

John: Yes. She went to the disciples to tell them she had seen the Lord (20:18).


10. To whom did Jesus first appear after his resurrection? Where?

Matthew: To two Marys. Jesus appeared to them when they were on their way to Jerusalem after leaving the tomb(28:1).

Mark: Jesus did not appear to anyone. The earliest manuscript of the Gospel of Mark has no record of Jesus appearing to Mary and his disciples after being crucified. A total of 12 verses (16:9-20) of Jesus’s revelation was added later by the scribes of the early churches.

Luke: To Cleopas and another person. Jesus appeared to them  about 25 miles from Jerusalem, in the village of Emmaus 24:13-16).

John: To Mary Magdalene by his grave (20:11)

1 Corinthians: to Peter (aka Cephas) (15:5). It did not mention where.


11. Did Jesus allow Mary and other people to touch him after he was resurrected?

Matthew: Yes. They worshiped Jesus by embracing his feet (28-9).

Mark: Not mentioned.

Luke: Yes. Jesus showed them his hands and feet before instructing them to touch him (24:39).

John: No. Jesus said to them, “Do not touch me, because I have not ascended to my Father” (20:17).


12. How many times did Jesus appear after his resurrection?

Matthew: Twice (28:9-20).

Mark: Three times (16:9-18).

Luke: Twice (24:13-51).

John: Three times (20:15-21:23).

1 Corinthians: Six times (15:8).
